Grief Interrupted

Hope entombed--
Hope lamented, two soggy days of tears--
Hope awaiting grief-laden arms' anointing--
Hope gone missing, angels in His stead--
Hope speaks my name--
Hope lives.

You turned my lament into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,

so that I can sing to You and not be silent.

LORD my God, I will praise You forever (Psalm 30:11-12, HCSB).

Exploring today with the Holy Experience community what it means to live Easter. . .

and with the Imperfect Prose community how God redeems our brokenness. . .

  1. Beautiful and true. Hope lives. And something about the soggy days makes the Hope experience all the richer.

  3. Hope lives is something I cling to, no matter what happens. Jesus, The Gift himself, gave us such a gift in being able to hope on.

  7. I like how you tied the hope to the moments of dejection. That really resonates with me - hope is when our hearts are most alive, somehow, in moments both good and not-so-much.

@Ruthiey: You're exactly right. "Hope" in the poem refers to Jesus. :)

  11. I love it! I love that God interrupts our grief to give us hope for Life Everlasting! How else could we ever survive the loss of those gone before us! When we lost a baby girl half way through the pregnancy, grief was interrupted with His promises - that promise turned my grief, my lament to dancing!

  12. It's good that hope stays alive
As all one can do is strive
Until what they wish comes to pass
And they can walk in their bare feet through the grass
